The anticipation of the swiftly approaching holiday of Pesach evokes
various reactions in our minds; some of us look forward to spending the
week in the company of our families and friends. By many, the thought of
Pesach invokes the state of being spiritually uplifted and inspired. Then
there are those of us for whom Pesach conjures up visions of interminable
weeks of tidying and cleaning.
But we are quite fortunate! Sadly, however, for many Anash and Shluchim
in Israel, Pesach bears an utterly different connotation; as the holiday
rapidly approaches, they enter a state of total panic and dread at the
prospect of being incapable of providing their families with basic holiday
needs. The prohibitive price of Matza and the skyrocketing costs of basic
necessities do nothing to ease their plight.
It is for this purpose that the “Adopt A Family” fund (under the direct
supervision of Harav Menachem Mendel Gluckowsky) has embarked on a
campaign to raise urgently needed “Ma’os Chittim”, a cause the Rebbe
greatly championed, for this upcoming Pesach, thereby sparing many
families the anguish of a ruined holiday. The money received by the fund
will be directed in its entirety towards alleviating the unbearable stress of
purchasing Pesach provisions and will cause enormous Simchas Yom Tov.
